Virtual Hebrides Star Ratings Explained
+ Occassionaly you will see an establishment with a "Virtual Hebrides Star Rating". We award guest houses, hotels and other establishments with a star rating when we feel that they offer a service that goes beyond the criteria of the usual ratings panels. We understand that it is incredibly difficult to get a 4 or 5 star rating from the Scottish Tourist board and, especially, the AA but these do not take into consideration some of the factors which can play a major part in the enjoyment of your stay.
Most commonly our rating applies to the services of the hosts and their general behaviour towards their guests. Generally you will find the vast majority of Hebridean hosts are the most amiable you are ever likely to meet and, more often than not, they will bend over backwards to help you make your stay a memorable one. However, every once in a while, we experience (or hear from a guest) instances where we are almost embarassed by the quality of service.
An example of such may be if you are moving on to a further part of your holiday in another area but have forgotten to book accommodation. We have had experience of hosts taking the time to phone around to help sort you out with somewhere to stay. Although such things are rare, and we hope your holiday goes without a hitch, there are times when we feel that we need help. If the host offers to help we feel that they deserve to be credited for this and would hope that by rating establishments that we have experienced as having that extra "something" it will help you in making your decision, on where to stay, that little bit easier..
