North Uist is the 10th largest Scottish island and only a little smaller than South Uist in the Outer Hebrides / Western Isles (off the west coast of Scotland a little further west than the Isle of Skye). Flatter than the Isle of Harris, which is found to the North and to which it is now connected to via a ferry), it features low lying hills dotted with lochs and lochans (salt and freshwater, and some mixed) together with areas of peat bog.
