St. Clement's Church, Rodel - Tur Chliamainn
|  | |  Many scholars estimate that the original church was built c.1520 - 1540. Entrance to the church is via the North Nave. The church is always open, if not please inquire at the Rodel Hotel. The church is well worth a visit having some of the finest examples of late medieval sculpture in the Outer Hebrides / Western Isles. To view an enlargement of the images on this page just click on them. | | |  St. Clement's Church / Tur Chliamainn, Rodel is constructed in rubble masonry, with schist and freestone used for the finer areas. The design is of a cruciform plan as shown to the right (click image to enlarge). There is a fine high tower to the West which has 4 stories and is freely accessible to the visitor though the top 2 stories are only accessible via a set of ladders. |  The image to the left shows some of the detailed masonry on the tombs within the church for further info visit the listing in the History Section of this site.
