Carloway

Carloway: The
township of Doune Carloway (the name is Norse in origin:
Karli's bay - click image for more ddetails and to enlarge) has the best preserved broch in the Western
Isles, Dun Carloway. The broch is easily accessible
(100m uphill) with parking facilities nearby. The broch
overlooks Loch Roag, it's external diameter is 47ft
with the double walls ranging in thickness from 10 to
12ft and a height of c. 30ft.
