Clannad: With haunting songs, mesmerizing vocals, and a captivating sound that blends elements of traditional Irish and contemporary music, Clannad continues to occupy a unique place in the modern musical world. Fans of Enya, Loreena McKennitt and others will feel right at home in the melodies of this family of musicians from Donegal...
The word 'Clannad' is pronounced CLAN-ehd. Some people, especially in the US have taken to calling it clan-AHD, but this is incorrect. This information comes from the 'PastPresent' video and from interviews with the band.
Clannad was originally named 'an clann as Dobhar' meaning 'family from Dore.' The name was latter shortened to 'Clannad.'

| Clannad - Greatest Hits |
|
Original Release Date: January 25, 2000. Clannad have brought out quite a few best of and greatest hits albums, but having listened to many of them I have to say that this album is the best one. This CD encompasses both the rock and folk aspects of the Irish band brilliantly, starting with the haunting Theme From Harry's Game, and ending with the soulful, upbeat Many Roads. The compilation contains a mixture of some of Clannad's well known hits, with those that are less known; including 4 tracks from the 80's drama Robin Of Sherwood.

| Clannad - An Diolaim |
|
Original Release Date: 15 June, 1998. An excellent collection of Irish folk songs, both lively and soothing, showing the traditional roots of this family group. Despite most of the songs being sung in Gaelic, this in no way detracts from enjoying the sometimes haunting music. This music is excellent to relax and unwind to with a cool drink by candle light at the end of a hard day. While some of the song material may be a bit melancolic at times, the music is uplifting and a delight to listen to.
