Great seeing Scalpay on the net. This is my first week on the computer (53 years old) and have spent my first two nights on the net at Scalpay.com
I used to spend my summer holidays every year with my grandmother Annie McLean and uncles Findlay and Roddie at Hill Cottage Outend, and have many happy childhood memories including bringing home the peats, taking out the stores to the lighthouse, watching the latest movies in the school, theLoch Mor,Tilly lamps, Trawlerband Radio (no electric or tele) I could go on and on.
I am ashamed to admit that I have not been to Scalpay since the bridge was built, but I hope to visit again soon.

I'm the grandson of Vyvyan Elliott and Roland Hudson, who brought us up to Scalpay to stay at Eilean Glas lighthouse twice in the early 90's. I loved the island, the serenity, the walk from the road to the lighthouse and the bogs that were magnets for me and my brother (Steven). I remember going to Jessie's (is it?) house for cake and the shop for sweets and being taken out in a lobster boat by someone (I think it was something Findley Ferguson...John perhaps...sorry if the spelling is wrong). What a fantastic holiday for teenagers. Oh yes and the ferry, my Nan giving everybody a heart attack when she tried to reverse on!...scary. We will come back one day.
