Great site - very interesting.
I am tracing family history. Can anyone tell me anything about Kenneth Campbell, tacksman of Scalpay in the 18th century, and his son Alexander Campbell (1794-1867), who was Lighthousekeeper at Eilean Glas, and later at Arnish, Stornoway?

I visited Scalpay for the first time this summer. What a great place. My family, going back five generations are from Scalpay and the Hebrides. It was a most interesting trip, and because the people I met were so helpful and kind, I do wish to return soon. Happy holidays to all, and all the best in the New Year. John N. I have visited Scalpay twice over the years before the bridge was built and have never found anywhere so beautiful. has the bridge changed the island much? Is the house at the end of the peninsular( can`t remember the name but it overlooked a small inlet and was next to an old chap called Angus who was lovely)still for rent ? can anyone help me find a small cottage for rent this year? Hope someone out there can help me?

This is my first Christmas and New Year away from Scalpay, and I'm missing it already. I hope everyone has a nice time over the holidays.

I have visited Scalpay for now over 20years. My wife is from the South Harris and spent a lot of weekends and school holiday with her relitives on the Island in the 70s before we meet. We have just come across scalpay.com and reading thru the guestbook looks like the site has had a bit of a rough time. Can anyone fill me in with what has been going on.? I am part of a web site in West Perthshire www.killin.co.uk and like Scalpay.com working with no funding, was this the reason it closed.
