Cuddy Point is where the boats came into Scalpay and landed goods for the islanders. The phot to the left shows The Isle of Harris, a frequent visitor to Cuddy Point.
As an island everything needed to be brought onto Scalpay via boat. Various boats would deliver their goods, such as food, coal, gas and other essentials.
The arrival of a vessel was looked forward to and it was greeted by an eager crowd.
With today's supermarkets and the opening of the Scalpay Bridge, the older people who remember these times, must miss the excitement of awaiting a deliver to see what luxuries were available.
