"Generally,
the reaction was that everyone was aghast that this
was being considered by the company. There was a surge
of opposition that was really quite incredible,"
he said. "Sunday observance is inherent in the
people whether they are churchgoers or not. You are
brought up with this as one of your principles and you
accept it."
"It
is not about a boat coming for and going back. It's

jamming the road from here to Stornoway, then cfoach

like any other seaside resort in Britain."
Morrison,
who stressed that his hotel business in Tarbert would
not benefit by maintaining the status quo, claimed that
Highland Regional Council were treading on dangerous
ground by agreeing at their transportation sub-committee
to back the proposed Sunday service. "We were given
autonomy to rule ourselves, to be masters of our own
destiny. Highland Regional Council are in danger of
opening a grave split with the Comhairle at a time when
councils in this part of the world ought to stick together
because you don't know what lies ahead."
