Croileagan Scalpaigh
The Scalpay Playgroup has been running for many many years. Until recently the playgroup met in the Community Hall once a week. This was very inconvienient, as the equipment had to be set up before the kids came in and then it had to be packed away afterwards. The Scalpay Primary School had no further use for their old home economics room, so they (and the local council) have allowed the playgroup to use it. A couple of local parents set about redecorating and repairing the building which, as you can see from the photographs below, is now ideal for the kids. The equipment can now be left in situe (and the kids can now play with water, which was not allowed in the Community Hall in case of damage to the wooden flooring).

The playgroup (Croileagan ) caters for children from 3 years old to 5 years old. There is also the Mothers and Toddlers Group which caters for the younger children. Recently the playgroup recieved a grant from the Local Council which has allowed them to purchase some much needed equipment, including a slide, trampoline and sandpit (which can also be used for water).
