Setting
off from the "road end", by the Ministry
of Defence Beacon, you are faced with a considerable
walk across open moorland. The way has been marked
with long poles.
|
|
If
the weather is good the walk to Eilean Glas Lighthouse
can be very pleasant. You are likely to see various
types of flora and fauna including Grouse and
the dreaded wild mink!
|
|
As
you approach the lighthouse you come to a large
dry stone wall with a gate. It is at this point
that you begin to see the work that went into
building this place. There is still clear evidence
of the vast plots linked by a simple road all
built by hand. In the distance you can see the
Isle of Skye.
|
|
After
passing through the gate and reaching the brow
of a hill you are faced with a steep decent down
to the beach area. The path down was paved but
is now eroded making the descent difficult for
some.
