This
reef is marked by a cardinal buoy. There are two wrecks
at this site, one a yacht and the other a paddle steamer.
As you can see from the above photograph diving in this
area can be a thoroughly enjoyable experience benefiting
from the colour of the abundant sea life and good visibility
(15m). The reef is large and shows itself at low tide
(the reef drops to 40m on the Little Minch side). For

The
reef is popular with the local fishermen as you will
find all manner of catches in this area. Pollock and
Cod for the angler. Most of the fishermen fish for shellfish
and the reef is abumdant in Lobster, Crayfish, edible
and velvet crab. For the divers the sandy bottom provides
scallops and all around you will see Squat Lobster,
which is not harvested but is edible and has a flavour
not dissimilar to prawn. I do not understand why there
is not a market for this creature, maybe it is due to
the uglyness of the beast. Although small it looks rather
alien and uninviting.
